The US Virgin Islands may seem like a vacation destination for cruise ships and millionaires, and it makes sense when you look at the white sand beaches and turquoise waters. It may surprise you just how cheap it can be to visit if you try to stick to a budget. We found round trip tickets for as low as $174 out of New York City, which prompted us to do a little digging around. So, why is visiting the Virgin Islands what you need right now?

1. It Is Warm!

The US Virgin Islands winter temperature ranges from 70 degrees Fahrenheit at night, to the mid 80’s during the day. Imagine stepping onto a plane in weather that is below freezing, and stepping off in a tropical paradise! You may want to bring sunscreen!

2. It Is the Dry Season

December to March is the most popular time to visit the US Virgin Islands because it is the dry season. The end of March to the beginning of June is the best time to visit because it is the end of the tourist season, and the period just before the rainy season. There is still time to plan a visit!

3. It Is a Premier Vacation Destination

The U.S. News & World Report rated the beaches on the US Virgin Islands the best in the Caribbean, and for good reason. The beautiful white sand beaches and blue waters are a sight to see, and a stark contrast to the white snow scenery available in the northern half of the US. There is a National Park where you can go hiking, amazing tropical fish and coral just off shore for snorkeling, and plenty of opportunities for sailing and scuba diving. There are amazing resorts that you could stay at for upwards of $500 a night, and Airbnb stays as low as $45 a night.
